Burn your Boats!

Burn the boats (or maybe better said the bridges) that you keep that allow yourself to fail.  We all know what they are!

Again I won’t ask you to do anything that I am not willing to do first!

We all know what things that we keep around that allow us to fail!  Mine are diet soda, alcohol, and inconsistent diet!  Add to that an inconsistent schedule and you have a formula that will produce the results that I have now.

The only way to ever judge anything is based upon results!  So if you take a deep hard look at you health and fitness, well then are your results!

So what are we willing to do about it?

#1 Get rid of the krap that keeps you fat and sick

Me – I am eliminating the soda in the house and the alcohol.  When it is not there you won’t abuse it!  Next time your at the store just say no.  Not in my house!

#2 Figure out ways to make health consistent habits stick.

Me – Diet – I struggle with inconsistent eating!  I get so busy that I forget to eat!  And then when I get so hungry that I need something I make bad quick choices.  So starting today I am doing a meal service very similar to the ones that Beach Body uses in their test groups that get great results!  I am not suggesting this for everyone.  But I am blessed to be able to afford it and right now being a great chef is not high on my value list!

Me – Exercise –  I am inconsistent with when I work out and I get so busy that I end up missing workouts!  The truth is that I waste time with busy activities that don’t accomplish much.  So now I am setting planned times to exercise no matter what and I am having other workout times when friends are coming over to workout!  I can’t skip workouts when folks show up at my door!

#3 Reinforce these efforts by modifying your values!

The only reason that we continue to do the things that we do is that somehow they are working for us!  We value the convenience or the way they make us feel.

For example:  I have always drank way to much diet soda!  I had tried (see how well it works to try to love someone) to quit.  With poor azz results!  But recently I have been watching many documentaries on diet and nutrition one of which was a 15-day juice fast.  “Fat Sick and Nearly Dead” http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/ I liked it and I wanted to do (not try) it.  So I did cold turkey no soda and no alcohol.  For 2 days it was rough but when I associated all the pain and sickness and dis-ease that comes from my old poor habits I just drank the recommended juices and that was enough.  In 2 days I was done with cravings and did not even want a soda or a glass of wine because I had changed the way I felt about what they were doing for me.  My values!

Me – One way that I continue to adjust my values is to be a TBB Coach.  I have to represent health and fitness if I want folks to follow me!  My values shift when I can associate getting paid with my health!  Right now TBB Challenge groups force me to 1) do my workouts and 2) Coach others.  I bet by committing to a challenge group you would shift your values too!
